HELLO

Firstly, a huge thank you if you are reading this…

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Julian from HAIR @ HESSLEWOOD – a brand new and inspiring project for all involved.

THE TREETOPS at HESSLEWOOD are a totally unique concept and environment, as a hairdresser that has been very fortunate to travel the world working, I was always aware of the importance of unique creative spaces and what can be achieved within them. Built literally from the ground up the treetops consist of purpose-built wood and glass houses placed into the trees on the stunning Hesslewood estate. This environment is a perfect home for the salon at East Yorkshire’s brand-new premier hairdressing boutique. Our aim is straightforward, to create bespoke hair services in a unique environment combining award-winning skill and experience with a super friendly yet highly professional outlook.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

I first started my hairdressing career 29 years ago working alongside Vidal Sassoon stylists on the west coast of England. It was in this extremely disciplined environment that I embarked upon my training, and I totally fell in love with the creativeness of hairdressing. Morning noon and night I would always be the first in and last out of the salon as I just couldn’t get enough, and I truly believe that this period laid the foundations for my journey ahead.

HAIRDRESSING JOURNEY

After completing my training, I decided that to continue my journey a location change was inevitable and shortly after moved to one of Liverpool’s largest and most renowned salon chains, working in the largest flagship store. This period was not only great fun, but it started to teach me the basics of show and stage work which I also loved. As time went on, I became totally absorbed and soon ended up in the creative team. eventually becoming a team leader and a salon manager. It was around this time i started to work more in Manchester and was chosen to be a part of a creative team that WELLA (international hair brand) was forming, with a leading hairdressing figurehead in the role of Creative Director.

The next two years was a huge learning curve, from shooting pictures at the renowned Lichfield studios to flying all over the United Kingdom for shows and appearances. The period concluded with a nation-wide tour showcasing our skills to project us to the leading figureheads within the industry.

HIGHLIGHTS OF MY CAREER

At last, I felt prepared for the road ahead and approached my mentor, undoubtably one of the most famous hairdressers in the country and asked for a job – it was here that the fun really began.

Throughout my career I have been very fortunate, having worked throughout the whole of the United Kingdom, America, Australia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Germany, Sweden, Spain and many other countries. I came to be a British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) stylist for ten years, styling celebrities for the event and also on the red carpet, a stylist for the Brit awards, working backstage with the bands and presenters and also resident slots on TV shows and series.

AWARDS

I have been nominated for Northern hairdresser of the year three times, and the feeling of winning the British Hairdressing Awards and lifting the trophy in front of my peers is still one of my favourite achievements so far. Another of my proudest moments is having the privilege and respect to be integral in the building and development of what is now a major UK and international hairdressing product range and achieving the role of creative director for the brand worldwide.

Julian Holland @ THE TREETOPS  is the next step of my journey and with all of this experience combined we truly hope that you will have a brilliant experience in a friendly relaxing environment.

Thank you for your time, and hope to see you soon.
